The West Madison Polar Caps Hockey Club is a Division 1 non-profit youth hockey association for boys and girls ages 4-18. The Club was formed in 2004 as a result of a merger between the Westmorland Saints and West Madison Flyers, two Clubs that have a rich tradition of fostering youth hockey in the Madison community. The West Madison Polar Caps Club works to assist children to develop positive physical, behavioral and competitive skills through participation in the game of hockey. The Club is operated by dedicated parent volunteers who strive to make the hockey experience positive and rewarding for all its members.
Children who reside in the Madison Wisconsin West High and Madison Wisconsin Memorial High School districts are eligible to play for the West Madison Polar Caps.
The Polar Caps believe involvement in any youth sport should be fun and strives to help children develop a balance between skill improvement and competition. Sportsmanship is stressed at all levels. Hockey is a fast paced, fun game that helps promote these objectives. Polar Caps Coaches emphasize skating, stickhandling and positional play within a team environment. Our Coaches attend yearly coaching clinics and are certified by USA Hockey and the Wisconsin Amateur Hockey Association (WAHA). Excessively rough play, conduct that is disrespectful to coaches, other players and officials is not tolerated. All players, parents and coaches are required to sign a "Code of Conduct" agreement at the start of the season to help foster a positive family atmosphere within our Club.
