Concussion Awareness

Polar Caps Support Concussion Awareness

On April 2, 2012, Wisconsin State law was amended to include Wisconsin Act 172 relating to concussions and other head injuries sustained in youth athletic activities. The Wisconsin Amateur Hockey Association is requiring all member clubs to comply with the new state law.

To be in compliance with the new law, all Polar Caps parents, skaters and coaches should take the time to learn the importance of recognizing and responding to the signs, symptoms, and behaviors of a concussion or head injury. To support this process, WAHA has published two Fact Sheets to help expand concussion awareness and understanding.

After reviewing these materials, parents, skaters and coaches should sign and date the appropriate Agreement, and return it to their Age Level Director.

The Parent & Athlete Agreement MUST be signed before your child will be allowed to participate in any hockey activities.
